It’s Halloween season, so it’s time to transform into a vampire. Not really, but you can use vampires to boost the look and feel of your face this season. The popular Vampire Facial, which is really our PRP microneedling facial, is popular at Youthful Infusion Med Spa. This blend of microneedling and the application of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) that’s been obtained from your own blood, is the perfect way to enhance skin texture and complexion. It adds value in eradicating scars (even acne scars), correcting hyperpigmentation, firming slack skin, diminishing fine lines, and reducing the visibility of large pores. What Is PRP?

Microneedling with PRP has nothing to do with vampire blood. Some people call it the Vampire Facial because it uses your own blood for a beautiful outcome. PRP is a standard treatment. We take your own blood. When we put the blood in a centrifuge, it splits into three unique layers: the top layer full of plasma, the middle layer with platelets and blood cells, and the bottom layer containing red blood cells. The PRP, or Platelet-Rich Plasma, is extracted from the central part, also called the serum portion. This potent substance forms the backbone of the treatment as it fosters cell regeneration and boosts collagen and elastin production, essential for keeping skin firm and supple. Importantly, the facial uses your own plasma gathered from your blood sample and not from any other individual.

Microneedling With PRP vs. Microneedling

So, what’s the role of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in everything? PRP is the critical element in facial treatment, not the red blood cells, as popularized by the widespread phenomenon of the treatment. Microneedling can be performed using peptide gel, hyaluronic acid serum, or, as in the case of the “vampire facial,” with platelet-rich plasma. Combining PRP with microneedling enhances the outcomes, accelerates the recovery procedure, and encourages cell renewal. This results in brighter, youthful-looking, and feeling skin.

Benefits of Microneedling With PRP

Some of the most significant benefits of microneedling with PRP include:

  • Quick procedure, usually taking under an hour, and requires minimal downtime.
  • Sources healing factors from your own blood for personalized results.
  • Helps smooth wrinkles and fine lines.
  • Removes excess pigment.
  • Enhances your collagen production.
  • Lowers scarring from surgery, acne, and trauma.
  • Suitable for all skin types and tones.
  • Little chance of an allergic reaction as the PRP is derived from your own blood.

How Does Microneedling With PRP Work?

PRP facial works in two ways. Firstly, microneedling creates tiny punctures in your skin that trigger a wound-healing response, stimulating your skin’s natural collagen and elastin production. Secondly, to enhance skin cell regeneration, the growth-factor-dense PRP is allowed to penetrate the skin through the microchannels created by microneedling.

Over time, PRP, containing red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets crucial for growth functions and healing, amplifies collagen production, increases cell turnover, and fosters the growth of fresh blood vessels, giving rise to long-term rejuvenating effects. Multiple treatments are generally required for optimal results.
